MckLinky Blog Hop #9 - Favorite Baby Pics

This week's Blog Hop theme is "BABY PICS". We are to post your favorite baby pic(s) of yourself, your kids or any baby pic you think the blog hoppers would love to see.

I am proud to submit pictures of my two babies; each at the age of 6 weeks.

Due to not having digital files of these photos (they did not have digital then; back when dinosaurs roamed the earth) the picture quality is not the best ~

Nonetheless, I cherise these photos... I look at them now and can recall looking at the babies and wondering what their future had in store for them. Little did I know how very proud they would make their Dad & me :-)

I am so blessed to have these two as my kids and so honored to be their Mom!!

The Gratitude Campaign

Have you ever seen one of our military men/women walking past you and wanted to convey to them your thanks, but weren't sure how, or it felt awkward?

Recently, a man created a gesture which could be used to express your thanks and has started a movement to get the word out.

Please everybody take just a moment to watch..... then check out www.gratitudecampaign.org

What's On Your Bookshelf???

My Blogger Buddy over at Secret Mom Thoughts has passed on the Joy of Reading Award to me! Thanks so much!!

Here are the rules of this one:

1. Collect the book that you have most handy
2. Turn to page 161
3. Find the 5th complete sentence
4. Site the sentence on your blog
5. Pass it on to 5 other bloggers

1. The book I'm reading right now is called "Born To Play, My Life In the Game" by Dustin Pedroia. This book is the autobiography by a young man that my son played baseball against in high school and summer leagues. It is so amazing to read about the successes of local kids!

2. Here is the 5th sentence on page 161, "'The next big turning point was against the Giants, in Boston in the middle of June."

5. Now I have the pleasure of passing on this award to see what's on your bookshelf. I am passing on the award to the last 5 people to become followers of my blog (that have blogs listed on their profile) and anyone else that would like to participate. These ladies all have great, funny, and interesting blogs. Be sure to check them out. I'm looking forward to see what everyone else is reading!!

MckLinky Blog Hop #8 - TIME TO LAUGH

This week's Blog Hop theme is "TIME TO LAUGH". We all need a good laugh sometimes, what a great way to start the week..

I could not decide between two so I am posting them both; hopefully, the first one does not offend any of my readers!! It is just too cute!!

Next, I offer this funny up for all of you techno geeks (like me!) - ENJOY ~

CLEANING POEM

I asked the Lord to tell me

Why my house is such a mess

He asked if I'd been 'computering',

and I had to answer 'yes'

He told me to get off my fanny

And tidy up the house
And so I started cleaning up...

The smudges off my mouse

I wiped and shined the topside
That really did the trick....
I was just admiring my work
I didn't mean to 'click'

But click, I did, and oops I found
A real absorbing site
That I got SO way into it

I was into it all night
Nothing's changed except my mouse
It's very, very shiny
I guess my house will stay a mess....
While I sit here on my hiney

August Favorite Things

August happens to be one of my most favorite months since both my birthday and our wedding anniversary fall in this month!

Besides my fav month here are a few other favorites for August!!!

My favorite daughter & Son-in-Law spoil me beyond belief! A new LV purse with silver stitching and RED trim filled with amazing earrings, a peacock feather cuff bracelet and MAC's new fragrance 'Naked Honey'!!!

From my favorite Son & his sweet girlfriend I received a beautiful bouquet of flowers!! Roses, Gerbera's and Lilly's!! I am blessed beyond words!

Finally, I have found a rather fun little favorite! Target now sells wine cubes! Now, this is probably going to gag my wine savy friends but it is really not bad! To date we have only tried the Pinot Grigio, but it was really decent! The wine is bottled (ne boxed) by Trinchero Family Estates of Napa. Conveniently priced and portable – making it ideal for any occasion whether traveling, hosting a party or enjoying an outdoor soiree. Check it out...

Family wedding weekend

I had a fantastic weekend with my little family!!

My Nephew Joey got married and Tommy was the Best Man ~ Joey and Tommy were born 31 days apart and have been the best of buddies!

Tommy & Lindsey flew in Friday morning and stayed until Monday evening. We had the best time; we always do!! Erin & Chris were here most of the time and my house was filled with so much LOVE!!! I cooked as many meals as I could as it makes me happy to cook/bake and have my family all sitting around the kitchen and family room!

The wedding was held at my Dad’s house and was so lovely – The weather turned a bit cooler days before which made the event even more perfect.

One of my favs since it is of one proud Momma with her two amazing kidlets!!

A little hidden love in my backyard ~

Road trip to Washington

I mentioned here that my Son purchased his first home. The Fireguy and I loaded up the last of his belongings (and several items the I couldn't help but buyfor him!) and we headed out for our 14 hour road trip. One stop to pick up our Daughter and away we went.

Here we are all loaded up and ready to go...

The house literally became his at the same time we left! Here he is making some major life changing decisions... Shortly after we were on the road I received a call to advise us that the poor guy came down with the stomach flu! We had no idea what we were getting in to, but still could not wait to see him and his new home!! Luckily he was much better by the time we arrived~~

My daughter kept us and herself entertained on the drive!!

We drove through the night in order to get to Washington first thing in the AM and this is what our eyes felt like!!

Here is our Son checking out all of his wonderful plants!! The landscaping is amazing...

We only had one hiccup on the trip; the borrowed trailer had a flat at 4:30AM!! Luckily The Fireguy had stuck in a spare, we got it changed and were on our way!! It was indeed a whirlwind weekend but we accomplished so much. I'm sure this will not be the last road trip to visit but surely be one that we will remember!!
Welcome Home Bubba, welcome home...

A Sense of Accomplishment

I returned home from Washington to find my very first tomato of the season!! It has been so unseasonably cool this summer that my crop is taking forever ~

Anyone else experiencing late crops???

MckLinkey Blog Hop #5 - ENCOURAGEMENT

This weeks Blog Hop theme is Encouragement! We found an LDS cassette tape (yes I said cassette!) that we enjoyed listening to back in the early 80's! I hope you enjoy my submission!!

Accentuate the Positive!!!

The way you look at a situation has a lot to do with how you respond to it. It's the old question of whether the glass is half full or half empty. A little creative thinking and a concious effort to see things in a positive way can turn things around. The ordinary becomes the extraordinary. A stumbling block becomes a stepping stone.

In 1985, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints released a short cassette tape that focused on helping people with feeling positive. The twenty-minute tape was a creative presentation of the idea that "disappointment is an unavoidable fact of life," but that "it can aslo be full, and rich and wonderful, if you don't let the bad times rob you of hope." "There are lots of ways to deal with disappointment, overcome problems and bounce back from the hard times. And there are lots of ways to find the hope that you need to carry on. This tape is a collection of thoughts, ideas and music that can help you bounce back."
